Boonsak has another victory

[BADMINTON] Former Thailand Open champion Boonsak Ponsana recovered from a first set loss to join the other seeded players as winners in the Master Thailand Professional Badminton Tournament at Khon Kaen University yesterday.
Boonsak, who won the first leg of the tournament in Phuket two weeks ago, clocked up an 18-21 21-6 21-19 victory over second-seeded Poompat Sapkulchananart in the men's singles yesterday. Ranked No 16 in the world, Athens Olympic semi-finalist Boonsak was representing the Senanikhom Club. Boonsak collected Bt34,000 for his win in the second leg of the four-leg tournament yesterday. His younger sister Salakjit also came from behind to win her match against Monthila Meemek 21-13 21-7 to take the women's title. Men's doubles pair Phattapol Ngernsrisuk and Sudket Prapakamol crushed second seeds Songpol Anukrittiyawan and Nitipong Saengsila 21-15 21-17, while in the women's doubles Sathinee Jankrachangwong and Saralee Thungthongkam powered past second seeds Duang-anong Aroonkesorn and Kulchala Voravijitrchaikul 21-16 21-19 in a thriller. The in-form Saralee won her second title in the mixed doubles moments later when she partnered Sudket. The top seeds and the world ranked No 6 pair defeated Thanawat Rattananon and Saisamorn Chatthanupakorn 21-14 21-16. The next leg of the tournament will be in Rayong from May 18-21. The Grand Masters, the final round of the four-leg meet, will be held at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium with a share of the Bt1 million prize money up for grabs.
