Protester dies

A man who participated in the anti-Thaksin protest died yesterday at the rally site opposite Government House.
Kimleng Sae Lee, 58, who had camped out in Ramkhamhaeng University's tent, likely died of sudden unexpected death syndrome, police said. Ramkhamheang student Seksan Suwanyos said Kimleng had told him in the early afternoon that he wanted to rest and asked to be woken at 3pm. When he went to wake Kimleng, Seksan discovered the man had died. Surayasai Katasila, a spokesperson for the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), said Kimleng had sold plastic mats to protesters. The PAD will consider ceasing protests during the daytime to give protesters time to rest, Surayasai said. "High temperatures in the daytime could affect people's health. Instead of having protest activities for 24 hours a day, we might start them in the evening," he said. Bangkok Metropolitan Police commissioner Maj-General Pramote Pathumwong said an autopsy would be performed to determine the cause of death. Kimleng's body was covered with a Thai flag by fellow protesters. - The Nation
