Prime minister says he's the symbol of democracy

Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra yesterday compared his election campaign to a fight to save democracy from rotting and insisted he would not surrender but stand his ground against the "outlaws".

No debate while rally continues

None of the Thai Rak Thai Party's key members will join a televised debate with the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) and former opposition parties unless PAD demonstrators besieging Government House go home, government Spokesman Surapong Suebwonglee insisted yesterday.

Thaksin would set up thought police: Supinya

If the Thaksin Shinawatra administration had its way, it would even ban citizens' right to think, media-reform campaigner Supinya Klangnarong said yesterday.
