STATE OF THE ARTS
It's the teacher's turn

After showcasing artists like Picasso, Andy Warhol and Renoir, Timothy Yarger Fine Art (Bangkok) will present various works by Thailand's ML Chiratorn Chirapravati.
The exhibition "Love, Companions and Dreams" will cover Chiratorn's work over the past 12 years. The artist, who's better known as Khru Toh, is recognised for his minimalist and freeform style. Since his last solo exhibition 12 years ago, Chiratorn has been involved in several projects, including teaching, food styling and setting up exhibitions for his own students. The exhibition runs from March 24 to April 29. The gallery, on the ground floor of Promenade Decor (next to Bangkok's Nai Lert Park Hotel), is open Monday to Saturday, 11.30am to 6.30pm. For more information, call (02) 655 0882. Two sides of the same coin 100 Tonson Gallery is presenting paintings, prints and drawings by Panya Vijinthanasarn and Andrew Stahl until May 12. Both former students of Britain's Slade School of Art, they share a similar obsession with historical legacy, present conditions and the future relevance of painting. From different perspectives, both artists use their experiences to propel a belief in the internationalism of art. Through personal compositions and arrangements, Panya attempts to imbue fresh perspectives into traditional Thai iconography. Stahl, who's also hooked by classical art stylings, is equally mesmerised by the modern techno-urban landscape of monster billboards, flickering TV screens and mass transportation networks. Through his works, the mundane are elevated to fantastical and surreal. The gallery, 100 Soi Tonson off Bangkok's Ploenchit Road, is open Thursday to Sunday from 11am to 7pm. For more information, call (02) 684 1527. Photographers' forum A free online forum where photographers can exchange information with one another about the art form has just been launched.
