Home shows expect Bt1 bn in sales

The organisers of two shows that kicked off this week at Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani are hoping for combined sales of about Bt1 billion from the events, boosting land developers and makers of home decoration products as the first quarter draws to a close.
Yesterday, Home Product Centre Plc, which operates the HomePro chain, opened HomePro Expo 2006 as part of its first-quarter sales drive. The company expects sales of Bt400 million from the 10-day event. Home Buyers' Guide Co Ltd has opened the Home Buyers' Guide Fair 2006, which runs until tomorrow. The event features 90 property developers and 300 projects in Bangkok and neighbouring provinces. The company expects sales of up to Bt600 million from the three-day event. Home Product Centre's executive vice president for marketing, Nat Jaritchana, said the company had spent Bt100 million on its expo, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Buyers will get discounts of 10-50 per cent when they buy home decoration items at the event. Somchao Tanterdtham, managing director of NC Housing Plc, one the developers taking part in the Home Buyers' Guide Fair 2006, said he hoped the event would boost sales as the firm had experienced only slight growth in the first two months of the year because of home-buyers' concern about the current political climate. NC Housing's first-quarter sales growth to date is lower than in the same period last year, he said. Somluck Srimalee The Nation
