Bank cuts rates

Bangkok Bank will cut its floating rates by 25 basis points for customers who sign up for a new home loan at the bank's "Full House" booth at the Home Buyers Guide Fair 2006.
The fair runs until Sunday at the Impact Arena Hall in Muang Thong Thani. At the event, the bank will offer home loans with four rate options. Two start with fixed rates - one year fixed at 4 per cent, or two years fixed at 5 per cent for the first year and 6 per cent for the second year. The other two start with floating rates - minimum lending rate (MLR) minus 1.5 percentage points for two years; or MLR-1.75 percentage points for the first year, MLR-1 percentage point for the second year and MLR-0.5 percentage point for the third year. After the fixed term the bank will also offer floating rates of MLR-25 basis points, which is at a discount to the normal borrowing rates. Jeans sales to zip Mac Co Ltd, the exclusive local distributor of McJeans, expects sales of Bt120 million this year after introducing "McJeans Right Tack". Managing director Sunee Sareepanu said yesterday that the latest design would focus on youths and working persons aged 15-25. The company has earmarked Bt25 million for marketing this year. Buddhist books Thailand Book Tower (TBT) and Sukapabjai Publisher will open a bookstore to target the growing new generation of readers interested in Buddha's teachings. TBT together with Sukapabjai Publisher, operated by Book Time Co Ltd, have come up with a project to launch the country's first bookstore focusing on Buddha's teachings. It will stock books and works by one of the country's most revered monks, Buddhadasa Bhikkhu, as a highlight. Chonrungsee Chalermchaikij, Book Time managing director, said yesterday that the company also would increase its sales channels by 15 per cent this year to promote its brand and its products.
