PAD might 'ambush' premier with letter

Protest leaders were thinking about ambushing the prime minister at Government House today to give him an open letter calling for his resignation, a protest spokesman said yesterday.
Thaksin Shinawatra is scheduled to go to the Santimaitri Building at 10am to chair a meeting of the organising committee for the diamond jubilee celebration of His Majesty the King.
Tens of thousands of protesters are holding a vigil outside Government House to force Thaksin to step down.
Suriyasai Katasila, spokesman for the People's Alliance for Democracy, said PAD leaders would hold talks and decide whether to intercept Thaksin at a Government House gate to hand him their open letter.
"This is to show him our solidarity and objective," Suriyasai said.
Before a rally in Nakhon Ratchasima yesterday, the premier dismissed PAD claims he had commissioned an occult ritual in Buri Ram on Tuesday night in a bid bolster his waning political fortunes.
"I went to bed at 10pm that night and fell asleep right away. How could I do anything else after that?"
Thaksin told the rally in Nakhon Ratchasima that he was ready to go back to his office at the Government House. "If you support me like this, I am as fit as a horse,'' he said.
Thaksin said his wife had called him telling him to take it easy and not to attack the anti-government group, but he had told her that he had already wasted too much time.
"We have to move on. The country cannot come to a halt because of these hooligans,'' he said.
