AVIATION: THAI is named best intercontinental airline

Thai Airways International has once again received the award for best intercontinental airline in the Norwegian Grand Travel Awards 2006.
It is the second time in a row that THAI has won the award, this time scoring 4.99 out of a maximum of 6.Somchainuk Engtrakul, THAI's acting president, said that the voting was performed by a travel trade jury combined with a random selection of 300 travel agents from all over Norway. - The Nation. ------------------------------------------ INDIAN TOURISM: Offices set for China, S Korea and Thailand India's Union Tourism Ministry is all set to open representative offices in China, South Korea and Thailand as part of its promotional activities in Asia. The ministry, with an enhanced budget of 8.3 billion rupees (Bt7.3 billion) for 2005-06, is focusing on various promotional and marketing activities overseas to attract foreign tourists, officials sources told the Press Trust of India yesterday.
