PM's limo bombarded

Protesters threw water and plastic bottles at the limousine of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra during his visit yesterday to Sa Kaew, the political stronghold of his friend-turned-foe Snoh Thienthong.

Scores of protesters tried to block the road as the premier's motorcade was leaving the Aranyaprathet border checkpoint, which he visited at 4pm.

Some 300 protesters greeted Thaksin when he arrived at the border checkpoint. They would have come to blows with supporters of Thaksin but for intervention by authorities.

Thaksin said he was not surprised at the protest, saying all leaders have "people who love you and people who don't".
