Behead advisers, Banharn tells Thaksin

Chat Thai Party leader Banharn Silapa-archa suggested yesterday that Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra should "behead" his advisers for allowing him to lose political direction.
Banharn was speaking ahead of a meeting between Thaksin and Chat Thai secretary-general Prapat Photasuthon at his home in Suphan Buri. Thaksin said he wanted residents to persuade Banharn to run in the April 2 election. Thaksin had sought a meeting with Mahachon Party leader Sanan Kachornprasart but the invitation was refused. Banharn said: "Thaksin's adviser should be beheaded because their advice is disgusting. Only recently I invited him to talk but he chose not to come. How many advisers does he have? Behead them all." He said his party was committed to boycotting the poll despite the PM's efforts to persuade them to run, and the Democrat and Mahachon parties need not fear an about-turn. Chat Thai deputy leader Kanchana Silapa-archa said Thaksin's visit to Suphan Buri had caused unease in the party. Members must explain reasons for the boycott to voters. Chat Thai Party deputy leader Chuwit Kamolwisit said the party attacked Prapat's decision to welcome Thaksin in his house. "He should have refused. What he did is like opening his house for a robber to come in. Even though the robber does not steal anything, the damage is done. What he did has caused other Opposition parties to feel insecure,'' he said. Before meeting with Prapat, Thaksin dropped by a market in Don Chedi District where 500 people turned up to support him.
