Miss Lily banks on the power of flower sports marketing

Miss Lily Co, an online flower delivery service, has announced that the company would pursue more sports marketing this year to boost its brand nationwide, said Rawat Chindapol, founder of the company.
After supplying products to numerous golf tournaments last year, Miss Lily recently teamed up with NS Sport (Thailand) and Phuket Municipal Administration to organise "Miss Lily Supermodel Thai Boxing Championship 2006", which will be held at Saphan Hin Sports Centre in Phuket this Friday. Besides boxing matches, the venue will include a catwalk for presenting boxing sportswear designed by Umakorn Kanking, executive managing director and designer of Ukas and Miss Lily flower bouquets. Female boxers flown in from Las Vegas will demonstrate their Thai boxing skills at the event. Rawat said he was confident that the event would be an effective tool to strengthen her company's image and broaden its market. The company plans to spend about Bt10 million to Bt15 million a year on sports marketing. He said the flower delivery service is growing 10 per cent a year and that sales would blossom to Bt40 million compared to Bt36 million last year. The company is also seeking new sources for high-quality roses. In addition to outfits in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and China, the company will soon purchase roses from a company in Khao Ko in Phetchabun province. "We aim to be the market leader by offering customers the biggest variety of rose species and colours," Rawat said. The Thai rose market is worth more than Bt7 billion a year, with wreaths accounting for Bt4 billion alone. They're followed by bargain roses, Bt2 billion, and flowers used for greetings account for the rest. He said the company would start designing new types of flower arrangements that can be used for decoration. The company is also developing software to help it expand its service into six other Asian countries. He declined to say which companies were on the company's hit list, but added that Miss Lily would start its online flower delivery service in Singapore in the last quarter of the year.
