Local officials support poll

Local administration groups yesterday petitioned His Majesty the King to support the general election on April 2.

Paisal Prakarnrat, president of the Kamnan and Village Head Association, said before petitioning the Royal Palace that local leaders do not want to see mob rule prevail.

He said other local administrative organisations, including the Association of Tambon Administrative Organisations and the Municipal League of Thailand, have a common stance to support the general election. They want all parties to comply with democratic rules and the Royal Decree dissolving the House.

He denied local leaders supported the government because they have enjoyed more welfare benefits under the Thaksin government.
