'Grateful' bike taxis back PM

Up to 10,000 motorcycle taxi drivers from Bangkok are staging a procession from the Royal Plaza to Sanam Luang to join today's rally in support of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, a representative said yesterday.
"This government is the first to help us lead a better life in that we don't have to pay influential groups for 'protection' anymore," said Wichien Chumchuen from the Lat Phrao Soi 41 (Soi Pawana) motorcycle taxi stand. "The premier is in crisis, so we'll show our gratitude to him." The bikers will gather at the Royal Plaza at 2pm and convoy over to Sanam Luang at 3pm, he said. Motorcycle taxi divers who back the anti-Thaksin movement are from illegal queues, he said. The Nation
