A GOOD HAWK IN TIME

An 84-year-old man got quite a surprise when he had a coughing spell earlier this month.
According to a US television station, Guy Hart hawked up a nail that had been lodged in his rib cage for 35 years. The inch-long culprit got stuck in his body during a lawn mowing accident back in 1970. Doctors thought surgery would be too costly so the nail was left and forgotten, until Hart coughed it up this month. Now he's keeping the nail in a plastic bag until he figures out what to do with it.
MONKEY MAN LOOKS FOR A MATE
A Ugandan man who was raised by monkeys is ready to settle down. According to the Sunday Monitor, John Sebunnya was raised by primates for four years when he was a baby. Although he's been living with humans for more than a decade, he's still adjusting. Sebunnya can't speak very well and is still learning to walk properly. Despite his unconventional upbringing, Sebunnya has basic human desires and hopes to settle down and get married.
TOILET WATER BEATS FAST FOOD
A 12-year-old Florida student's science-fair project has uncovered some disturbing results. The seventh grader named Jasmine Roberts compared the amount of bacteria in the ice and toilet water of five different fast-food restaurants in her neighbourhood. The results? She says, "I found that 70 per cent of the time, the ice from the fast food restaurants contains more bacteria than the fast food restaurant's toilet water." The tests were completed at Florida's Moffitt Cancer Centre, where Roberts is a volunteer. Her project won the science fair.
CHENEY ACCIDENT PAYING OFF
US Vice President Dick Cheney's hunting accident is causing a booming interest in the gun market. According to Yahoo Shopping, the number of Internet searches for guns blasted up to 27 per cent from the previous week. It's also a boom market for camouflage items and BB guns. Meanwhile, there's already a T-shirt at Moewampum.com with Cheney's image that reads, "Big Dick's Shooting Range - Bring a Friend". Other shirts from other vendors listed on eBay include: "Dick Cheney Hunting Club - We'll Give You a Ten Second Head Start" and "Don't Shoot, Dick...Please Don't Shoot."
TEACHING IS A GERMY JOB
Teaching is a dirty job in more ways than one. According to a study by the University of Arizona, teachers and accountants are exposed to more germs than any other profession. Surprisingly, attorneys have the least germy jobs.
PEEING GRAN DRIVES PRESS CRAZY
The British press is getting its knickers in a twist over a woman known as the "Grave Pee Gran" ever since she was arrested for urinating on a family grave in January. Annette Slight, a 54-year-old grandmother from Pallion, England, has been charged with public indecency but has been granted conditional bail until March 1.
PARANOID BURGLER GIVES HIMSELF AWAY
A thief in the western US state of Washington, basically wrote his own arrest warrant by leaving a note inside his house saying, "Do not open door and let anyone in! Stolen stuff visible." Investigators who took the sign seriously recovered stolen antiques, furniture, jewellery, credit cards and at least 19 guns from the home. They also arrested the paranoid pilferer, Gerald Levertt Mack, and charged him with first-degree and residential burglary.
AN AIRCON TO FIGHT BIRD FLU
The South Korean makers of a new air conditioner are expecting the sweet smell of success to come from the nation's favourite raunchy smelling food, kimchi. LG Electronics says it will produce an air conditioner that fights bird flu with a filter made from an enzyme found in the fermented cabbage dish.
A company spokeswoman says since the filter is made from an enzyme and not kimchi itself, it won't make the air stink.
