HP reorganises business units

Hewlett-Packard (Thailand)'s direction this year has a focus on three core business groups, rather than four groups last year, and the company expects growth of 10 per cent.
Sanpat Sopon, managing director, said that the three groups are imaging and printing, personal systems and technology products. Imaging and printing will focus on printers, digital-photography, and digital entertainment. Meanwhile, the personal systems group will concentrate on small and medium businesses, who will be the core customers this year for mobility products and commercial mobile computers. The last group will focus on outsourcing services and business products to SMEs. "HP sees an opportunity to sell its products in SME markets since we will help reduce the cost of investment and support customers' businesses," said Sanpat. He said the company this year expects its revenues will grow more than 10 per cent, even if Thai markets are hit by political turmoil, high oil prices or avian influenza. The company also believes the Thai IT market in the near future will have a high growth rate since this is a developing country and the government will be the main market target as purchases IT products to upgrade systems.
