Dissolution 'not enough'

The People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) has opposed calls for Parliament to be dissolved as a way out of the political crisis. It says Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is the problem, not the House.
"If the PM wants to solve the problem facing the country, he only has to quit. If the PM dissolves the House and there is no political reform, the public will not accept the new government,'' PAD leader Suriyasai Katasila said yesterday.
Any successor to the PM would be pressured to amend the Constitution and clean up the political scene, he said.
Meanwhile, the PAD is building funds for political action in five banks and selling anti-Thaksin T-shirts.
Suriyasai said anti-government campaigners would continue to map out political reform and call for an inquiry into the assets of leaders over the past decade - unless Thaksin dissolves the House or resigns before Sunday.
Thirty doctors, who studied at Mahidol University, have volunteered to provide medical treatment for demonstrators at Sunday's rally.
