Thaksin: Undaunted by political furore, PM has decided he needs new digs

While his political future may be uncertain Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is forging ahead with plans to build a new mansion. Yesterday he and his wife Pojaman went to the Thai Rak Thai Party office to look at house plans.
A party source said the mansion would be built on newly acquired land near the Thailand Cultural Centre. Pojaman bought the 33 rai plot from the Financial Institutions Development Fund for Bt778 million. – The Nation

NCCC: Applications being called for
The NCCC selection committee yesterday began calling for applications for the nine spots on the National Counter Corruption Commission. Applications close on Monday.
Parliament Ombudsman Pramote Chotemongkol, the secretary of the committee, said candidates needed to apply for the positions in person at Parliament. – The Nation

STUDENT LOANS : Thaksin praises ICL scheme
The government’s income-contingent loan programme for students came about as the result of political will, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said yesterday as he chaired the official launch of the programme at Government House.
“The government will have to take responsibility if it fails to ensure an economy that is good enough to accommodate those entering the workforce,” he said. – The Nation
