Anti-Thaksin rally for Sunday

The next demonstration to oust Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra will be on Sunday at Sanam Luang.
The rally is expected to be quite large as an increasing number of university students in Bangkok and other provinces have been calling on Thaksin to resign. Moreover, Chamlong Srimuang, a former leader of the party with which Thaksin began his political career, the Palang Dharma Party, has called for Thaksin’s resignation. He will lead his Dharma Force to the rally.The People’s Alliance for Democracy, which is organising the rally, said last week it will continue its campaign until Thaksin resigns. Senators meet on NCCC The first meeting of the new selection committee for the National Counter-Corruption Committee will be held today. Members will discuss the rules for the selection process. Senate Speaker Suchon Chaleekrua will chair the meeting as the Senate is empowered to establish the selection committee. Democrats prepare no-confidence motion Democrat MPs will tomorrow discuss and then sign a no-confidence motion against the premier. They will also present the motion to Thaksin and call on him to keep his word by letting MPs from his party sign it. The Democrat working group investigating alleged irregularities in the Shin Corp share sale, led by Korn Chatikavanij, will meet to discuss the Bt73-billion deal’s documentation.
