Real estate congress coming to Bangkok

FIABCI-Thailand will host the FIABCI 57th World Congress from May 26-31 at the Sofitel Central Plaza Bangkok.

FIABCI is the French acronym for the International Real Estate Federation, recognised as an influential private sector representative with special status at the United Nations.

The federation operates chapters in 60 countries, embracing 3,200 individual members, 20 academic members and 100 national associations which represent 1.5 million real estate professionals. Thailand has been a member of FIABCI since 2004.

FIABCI world president Dato Alan Tong said the theme of the May event was “Caring for the Future Through Real Estate”. Issues covered will include

the sector’s recovery from natural disaster, protecting real estate from terrorism, and the impact of

petroleum costs and energy prices on the property market.

Organising chairman Prayoon Damrongchitanon said that 250 foreign delegates had already confirmed their attendance. He will go on a road show next month to promote the event to Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan, China, South Korea, Japan, Cambodia, Dubai, Bahrain, Germany, France and Spain.

“We expect 1,000 delegates to join in this event and believe that it will create new strategic partnerships between local property developers and foreign investors who are interested in expanding their business in Thailand,” he said.

Manop Bongsadadt, president of FIABCI-Thailand, said the world congress would be an open door for foreign businessmen to expand their investment in Thailand’s property market.

Meanwhile, local property developers will learn how to develop their projects to meet with international standards and foreign investors, demands, he added.
