Sudathip’s radio show axed

A leading business expert working for the Nation Channel has claimed that her radio programme was abruptly taken off the air because of her criticism of the controversial Shin Corp share sale.
Sudathip Charuchinda-indara said she was told on Tuesday that the following day would be her last as host of “Focus Sethakij” (Business Focus), which was previously aired daily on FM 101 between 9am and 11am.
“I knew exactly what the reason was,” she said, adding that she had received some warning from Radio Arm, which holds the radio station’s concession.
She had also received numerous warnings from people who said they were calling from Government House – and insults from Thaksin’s supporters.
Sudathip said she began to focus on the issue when rumours were first heard last month about the PM’s family wanting to sell its controlling stake in Shin Corp. She subsequently received a number of warnings and threats.
“Radio Arm told me not to touch Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra,” Sudathip said.
“It’s so obvious. They notified me about the programme’s termination less than 24 hours later [after her critical report],” she said.
Radio Arm informed Sudathip the decision was made on the basis that the company, which produces radio and television programmes for the Stock Exchange of Thailand would take over that time-slot.
