
NCCC nominees rejected
The Office of His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary has rejected the list of nine nominees for the posts on the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC), Senate Speaker Suchon Chaleekrua admitted Friday.
American, German receive 2005 Prince Mahidol Award
His Majesty the King last night honoured two scientists with the Prince Mahidol Award for their outstanding contributions to medicine and public health in a ceremony at the Ananda Samakhom Throne Hall. Prof Eugene Goldwasser, of the University of Chicago, and Prof Harald zur Hausen, of the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg, Germany, were chosen out of 46 nominees from 23 countries to receive the prestigious award.

SEC looking into stock exchange’s failure to list sale of Shin shares by PM’s company. The Securities and Exchange Commis-sion (SEC) is investigating why big-lot share transactions between Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s son and daughter, Panthongtae and Pinthongta, and Ample Rich Investment Co Ltd, a company owned by Thaksin, did not appear on the main trading board of the stock exchange on the day of the transactions, when they might have given the public advance knowledge of the Temasek Holdings-Shin Corp deal.
