Several roads in Bangkok including Kaset-Navamin Road will get new names in May, Bangkok deputy clerk Rattapol Meethanathavorn said yesterday.
The 9km Kaset-Navamin Road would be called Prasertmanukit Road, Rattapol said.
Soi Sangkhom Songkhro (or Choke Chai 4, soi 6), a 1.4km stretch which links Choke Chai 4 to Lat Phrao 71 and Pradit Manutham Road, will be named Sangkhom Songkhro Road. Trimitr Road in Samphan Thawong district would be named Mitraparb Thai-China to celebrate 30 years of Sino-Thai bilateral relations, he said. The new names will take effect in May. At the same time, sois along Yaowarat Road will be numbered with the old names also written in parentheses on the sign. ------------------------------------------------- World music event The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is helping to organise a music and food festival this week in an area below Rama VIII Bridge in Thon Buri. The event titled World Music and World Bar-BQ would be held from 5pm to midnight between January 18 and 22, featuring artists from 15 countries. The performers are coming from Sri Lanka, Canada, Brazil, China and the United States. Local talents such as Thewan Subseanyakorn and Bangkok Xylophone Band will also take part in the event. ------------------------------------------------- BMA wants GPS buses The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is pushing for buses that serve its school network install a global-positioning system (GPS), so parents can keep track of their children. The proposed network would cover 2,111 buses. Aside from GPS equipment, the source said each school bus would in the near future have a female attendant to care for commuting students. Both the bus drivers and female attendants would also have cell-phones, so parents can contact their children.
