Thamarak said the idea was part of new strategy aimed at bringing peace and stability to the region, where more than 1,200 people have died in the past two years. “We should not regard this law as protection for wrongdoers, but as a conciliatory measure. It will benefit youngsters who have been misled or lured into insurgent acts, such as being persuaded by friends to lay road spikes [to delay officials in pursuit],” he said. – The Nation.
