Bike sales up
Asian Honda Motors released its year-end sales figures yesterday, showing record motorcycle sales of 9.17 million units for the Asia-Oceania region, up 20 per cent over last year.
Top growth markets for motorcycles were the Philippines, where sales were up 41 per cent; Vietnam, up 23 per cent; and Indonesia, up 33 per cent. In Thailand, AP Honda recorded 1.43 million customers. Plans are underway at Honda to spend Bt11.1 billion this year and next to increase its total production capacity, from 8 million units last year to 14 million by 2007. – The Nation. ---------------------------------- New businesses: Start-ups on the rise A total of 3,865 companies registered to start up their businesses last month, an increase of 123 from the same time last year. The total combined registered capital of these companies was Bt24.23 billion, up 3.29 per cent year-on-year. Another 1,744 companies with combined registered capital of Bt7.83 billion ceased operations during the same period, which was 74 fewer companies than during the same period last year, or a reduction of 4.07 per cent. There were 494,972 corporations in Thailand as of November 30. – The Nation.
