SEA GAMES: ONLY 7 Gold Medals

Thai squad not living up to expectations in Philippines. Thai sports fans are hoping to see a more serious challenge from their athletes at the 23rd SEA Games and the team’s efforts yesterday turned out to be somewhat of an anti-climax when they won only seven gold medals from the 49 contested. Thai athletes won three gold on the second day of the track and field competition.

HE’S NO QUITTER

Teenager is on par for a gold at the SEA Games in Manila. When Nakarin Ratanakul, now 17, started playing golf six years ago, not many gave him any chance. Try teaching an “old dog” new tricks! In a game replete with child prodigies, the beginning was late by any standards.

Record-breaker Buaban’s on target

Forget that she won Thailand’s first gold medal at the 23rd SEA Games and the Kingdom’s first gold in track and field. Buaban Phamang made an impact beyond any expectations.
