Teen Chinarat to turn pro

A day after he pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Asian golf by winning the Double A International Open, teenage amateur Chinarat Phadungsil has decided to drop out of the Thai SEA Games team and turn professional. The teenager, who edged out tournament favourite Shiv Kapur of India in a sudden death play-off to become the youngest winner on the Asian Tour at 17 years and five days, said he had no choice but to withdraw from the SEA Games squad as professional athletes are not allowed to take part in the regional event.

Cyclists pedalling for gold

[SEA GAMES] Defending champion Chanpeng Nontasin is still the biggest medal hope for Thailand in cycling and is expected to win one of the two gold medals the team is aiming for at the 23rd SEA Games in the Philippines later this month. Thailand was unlucky at the last SEA Games in Vietnam, winning only one gold, five silver and four bronze medals. A total of 10 gold medals are up for grabs in the Philippines.

Good draw for Thais in Manila

[SOCCER] The Thai squad have received a good draw for this month’s SEA Games football competition and the seven-time champions are in Group A with Malaysia, Cambodia, and the Philippines.
