A Thai Airways plane carrying 260 passengers on a flight from Bangkok blew at least one tyre yesterday when it landed “heavily” at Melbourne airport. The mishap, at midday local time, caused the temporary closure of Australia’s second largest airport. THAI’s acting president Somchaineuk Engtrakul said the number 1 wheel of the Airbus A340-600 aircraft burst while taxiing on the runway, resulting in a hydraulic system leak.
