Thailand’s trucking industry is gearing up for the Bus & Truck ’05 commercial vehicle motor show at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre.
The event, in its second year under TTF International Co Ltd, will run from Thursday to Sunday. The theme of the event, “Save More … Make More”, is aimed at helping the industry cope with high fuel prices.
Chatree Manka, TTF’s managing director, said this year’s show would feature innovations and technologies that would help companies that use trucks to save fuel. Apart from publicising various technologies and products from manufacturers, the show will focus on fleet management. He said high fuel prices have directly affected businesses that depend on commercial vehicles. “We need to find ways to minimise expenses through both products and services.” Visitors will see the latest fuel-saving technologies from truck-makers, coach builders as well as accessory manufacturers, while those involved in the trucking business can attend seminars, government-agency exhibitions, contests, an educational institute exhibition and the Bus & Truck Award ceremony. The event is being sponsored by various government and private agencies such as the Land Transport Department, Highway Department, Highway Police, Pollution Control Department, Rural Highway Department and Port Authority of Thailand. Thanakorn Phetmee, president of the Non-Routed Bus Association, said the association would hold the Thailand Bus Interior Decoration Contest at the show in order to promote Thailand’s bus interior decoration industry and develop it to international levels. A seminar, “Route of Thai Logistics … Leaping to the Hub of Asia”, will be held on Friday from 9am to 5pm. It will feature logistics experts such as Jitsanti Thanasophon, director-general of the Railway Authority of Thailand; Bancha Pattanaporn, managing director of the Airports Authority of Thailand; and Theerayuth Tummanont, director of Laem Chabang Port.
