SET to assist Vietnam’s exchange
The Stock Exchange of Thailand will continue providing technical assistance and maintenance on information technology systems to the Ho Chi Minh City Securities Trading Centre (HoSTC) for another five years.
The work is outlined in a contract the SET has signed, which also calls for mutually promoting business opportunities with the HoSTC, according to Kittiratt Na-Ranong, president of the SET. This contract is an extension of one that expires this year. “Networking is important to the development of [stock] exchanges in the Asean region. Providing technical assistance and promoting business opportunities for both Thai and Vietnamese corporations is important. This collaboration will boost the image and role of the SET as it helps the HoSTC to develop and open up to more opportunities,” Kittiratt said. The total market capitalisation of the HoSTC is 5.4 trillion dong (Bt14.1 billion), or 0.6 per cent of Vietnam’s gross domestic product in 2004. – The Nation.
