Metro Star diversifies to fringe Sukhumvit suburbs to offer four-storey townhouses
Metro Star’s first townhouse project on Sukhumvit 103 contains 75 units on plots of about 25 square wah.
Called Ravipa Sukhumvit, the project covers an eight-rai estate at the lower end of Sukhumvit 103 at Soi Udomsuk 39. The townhouses will be some of the larger ones available today, with built-up spaces starting from 244 square metres. A visit to the site showed the land cleared, and construction is expected to take place soon. There are a number of designs, with the smaller units having 5.7-metre frontages. These four-bedroom, five-lavatory units are four storeys tall and contain seven split levels. The prices will start from Bt5 million with larger units in the front selling for about Bt7 million. The bigger units will have a wider 7.5-metre frontage. Ravipa is about 1.5 kilometres from the Sukhumvit turn-off. The site should have a BTS Skytrain connection when the line is extended to Samrong. “We’ll concentrate on areas where there’s strong demand. The Ravipa project has been attracting 100 visitors a week even before the sales office is officially opened,” said Metro Star’s managing director Rattanachai Phatinavin. With the current high cost of petrol, home-buyers will be pressured to buy homes that are closer to the city centre, he said. Infrastructure and mass-transit systems are becoming more crucial to a project’s viability, he said. The move to construct low-rise housing comes from the company’s decision to diversify into other housing segments. The firm is best known for its portfolio of inner-city condominiums such as Silom Grand Terrace, Sathorn Terrace and St Louis Grand Terrace.
