A bullet enclosed with a letter was left in the home mailbox of Securities and Exchange Commission secretary-general Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala yesterday morning.
The message read, “Next time, [the bullet] will be delivered into you.”
After filing a complaint with Lat Phrao police station, Thirachai said he knew of no personal enemies, adding that the death threat might have come from someone adversely affected by SEC decisions. Speaking to reporters later, he said: “I never imagined such hooliganism would affect the stock market.” Thirachai stressed that the threat would have no bearing on SEC operations, and recommended that disgruntled businessmen resolve differences through legal means – not threats.
