Malaysia has asked Thailand to help develop Muslim-friendly spa services in the Islamic nation to cater to the specific religious requirements of its population, the Commerce Ministry’s adviser said yesterday.

Sombat Srisurin said Malaysian Deputy Health Minister Abdul Latiff bin Ahmad had acknowledged Thailand’s expertise in this area and called for help in developing spa services in line with Muslim beliefs.

He said Kuala Lumpur had invited Thai businesses to enter into joint ventures in Malaysia to expand spa franchises and health products.

Sombat briefed the Malaysian deputy minister on Thailand Market Place, a project aimed at encouraging businessmen from both countries to jointly invest in the spa business.
