[JUNIOR RUGBY] The DHL Bangkok Lions launch the second half of their season at Bangkok Patana School in Sukhumvit 105 on Saturday.

They are to go through four weeks of structured coaching, a sevens competition and a tour to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

After taking delivery of the only Predator scrummaging machine in Thailand, the Lions will get a boost for their tour preparations. The Lions plan to donate it to Bangkok Patana School to thank them for their support for the past two seasons.

Before heading off to Kuala Lumpur, the Lions will once again meet TV sports personality Justin Sampson on September 17.

After the Malaysian tour, an under-15 side will play in the Rugby Challenge, part of the Bangkok 7s tournament held from October 28-30.

Lions chairman Bruce Hill said many parents and players were keen to get the season started again.

“During our mid-season break we have been planning our activities beginning with the under-15 team in the Bangkok 7s,” he said. “This will be followed on January 21 by the Lions hosting a second regional mini rugby festival for all age groups, and we expect teams from a number of other Asian countries aside from Singapore and Hong Kong, both of whom have confirmed their participation.”

Teams will then be selected for under-16, 14 and 12 for a tournament in Hong Kong on March 30, after which those attending will be able to watch the 2006 Hong Kong Rugby 7s.

Sponsorships can be arranged via the Lions website at www.bkklionsrugby.org.
