Thailand can now boast it’s own home-grown class of sailing boat – the Phuket 8 – and four of these very fast locally-built vessels have taken to the waters off Phuket this week to contest the Quantum Naga Cup.
Aussie Scott Duncanson, a former world champion sailor, won the first three races on the first day of competition at the helm of Securicor Somtam Express.
Competing in good winds of 12-15 knots, Keith Moore’s Pla Loma has three second places, and a close battle is developing between Josh Lee’s Vino by Watermark and Mark Horward’s Image-Asia Attitude 8 for the final podium position. Lee scored two thirds and one fourth place and Horwood two fourths and one third place to put themselves in contention before today’s final rounds. – The Nation.
