Nakhon Phanom will celebrate former prime minister General Chavalit Yongchaiyudh’s 73rd birthday today.
All five Nakhon Phanom Thai Rak Thai MPs, provincial authorities and the private sector will jointly host the celebrations to mark Chavalit’s resignation from politics and celebrate his birthday on Sunday, Nakhon Phanom TRT MP Suphachai Posu said yesterday.
Thousands of people including Deputy Prime Minister Chaturon Chaisang, Deputy Transport Minister Adisorn Piengket, and Adviser to the Prime Minister Wan Muhamad Noor Matha are expected to participate in the celebrations, Suphachai said. There will be merit making and buffalo auctioning ceremonies at Wat Mahathat in the morning, and in the afternoon Chavalit will preside over a meeting concerning water resource management, Supachai said. An auspicious rice ceremony to bless Chavalit’s long life will be held in the evening followed by stage performances.
